About Us

Familyworks is a part of Northdown Communityworks, voluntary organisation based in Newtownards, County Down, Northern Ireland. Familyworks provides:

  • Counselling - our counselling service provides counselling for children, young people and adults.

  • Courses - we provide a range of courses to assist parents and those who work with children and young people.

  • Couples work - we provide help for couples in building strong and healthy relationships.

In addition, Northdown Communityworks runs a wide range of events and provides various facilities for people in the Newtownards area:

  • Massive Kids Club - Massive is an event for children in school classes of P3 to P7 which takes place on Thursday evenings during term time at the Warehouse between 7pm and 8.15pm.

  • Blisters Media Club for gamers aged 8 -25 takes place on Friday evenings at the Warehouse between 7pm and 10pm.

  • Saturday Night Project- Saturday Night Project is an event aimed towards those aged 11 - 14 which takes place at the Warehouse on Saturdays between 7pm and 9pm.

  • Toddlers, Waddlers and Widdlers - TWW is a parents and toddlers event which takes place at the Warehouse between 10am and 12.00 noon on Wednesdays and Thursdays

  • Second Half - Second Half is an event for the over 50's that takes place at the Warehouse on Tuesdays between 10am and 12.00 noon.

  • Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme - on Wednesday evenings between 7.30pm and 9.30pm we operate as a Duke of Edinburgh Open Centre.

  • Openhouse - The Openhouse Coffee Company is the Communityworks coffee shop based at 1 Frances Street, Newtownards. We aim to provide the best quality coffee, tea and other drinks and food in a place where people can find an oasis of peace in the middle of the town.

Northdown Communityworks is company limited by guarantee registered in Northern Ireland under registration number NI037440 and having a registered office at 3 Glenford Way, Newtownards, Co Down BT23 4BX.  It is accepted as a charity by HM Revenue & Customs.
